Let’s get you reading again.
Troubleshoot imports, offline voices, reading views, purchases, and your local library.
Quick help
Pause, wait for the current passage to prepare, then retry. Close other memory-heavy apps and restart Ink Aloud if the issue continues.
For scanned PDFs, use scan review or OCR. Password-protected, damaged, and legacy DOC files may need conversion or re-export.
Open Settings → Access → Restore Purchases using the Apple Account that originally bought Ink Aloud Lifetime.
Frequently asked questions
Which document formats are supported?
Ink Aloud supports PDF, EPUB, TXT, Markdown, RTF, DOCX, public web articles, camera scans, and text shared from other apps. Legacy .doc files are not supported. Some damaged, encrypted, or unusually structured files may need to be re-exported.
What is the difference between Original View and Reading View?
Original View preserves the source document’s appearance when possible. Reading View presents extracted and corrected text in a layout optimized for highlighting, notes, selection, and speech. Immersive Reader provides a focused full-screen experience. Switching views does not create another copy of your document.
Does Ink Aloud upload my documents?
No. Speech, OCR, imported files, notes, and generated audio are processed and stored on your iPhone. A public web import connects directly to the website you select. Read the Privacy Policy for complete details.
When does the three-day trial begin?
The trial begins after the first successful playback of a document. Onboarding, voice previews, imports, and browsing your library do not start it.
Is Ink Aloud a subscription?
No. Ink Aloud Lifetime is a one-time in-app purchase. There is no monthly or annual subscription. The price shown by Apple in the purchase screen is the price for your storefront.
How do I restore a purchase?
Open Ink Aloud Settings, select Access, and choose Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple Account that completed the original purchase. If the product is temporarily unavailable, check your internet connection and Apple System Status, then try again.
How do I request an Apple refund?
Apple processes all payments and refunds. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple Account used for the purchase. Ink Aloud does not receive or store your card information.
How do I delete documents or cached audio?
Delete a document from the Library using its menu. To remove generated speech files, open Settings and clear the Audio Cache. Backups and files you exported must be deleted from the destination where you saved them.
How do I move to another iPhone?
Use Export Ink Aloud Backup in Settings, save the archive somewhere you control, and import it on the other device. The archive may contain your document text, notes, highlights, settings, and retained source files, so protect it like the original documents.
Why can a web article fail to import?
Some websites block automated downloads, require a login, serve unusually large pages, or change content after loading. Try the article’s reader-friendly or print view, or save it as a PDF and import that file instead.
