Privacy Policy

Your documents are not our data.

Ink Aloud is designed to read privately. Core document processing, OCR, speech generation, annotations, and playback happen on your device.

Plain-language summaryInk Aloud does not require an account, display ads, track you across apps or websites, sell personal information, or upload your document library to us. Limited connections occur only when you request a web import, use Apple’s purchase system, or contact support.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy describes how Ink Aloud ("Ink Aloud," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Ink Aloud iOS application and this support website. It does not control the privacy practices of Apple, websites you choose to import, or other services you independently use.

2. Information that stays on your device

Ink Aloud stores the information needed to provide its features locally on your iPhone. Depending on how you use the app, this may include:

We do not operate a server that receives your document library, document text, scans, notes, generated speech, or locally stored diagnostics. Depending on your iCloud and device-backup settings, Apple may include app data in a device backup. Apple controls those backups under its own terms and privacy policy.

3. When Ink Aloud connects to the internet

Public web-page imports

If you ask Ink Aloud to import a public HTTP or HTTPS page, your iPhone connects directly to the address you entered and downloads the page for local processing. Ink Aloud does not route the page through an Ink Aloud server. The website may receive ordinary connection information such as your IP address, request time, and device or browser details, subject to that website’s privacy policy.

Apple purchases

Lifetime purchases and purchase restoration use Apple StoreKit. Apple processes payment credentials and purchase transactions. Ink Aloud receives only the product and entitlement information needed to unlock access; we do not receive your payment-card number or Apple Account password.

Support requests

If you voluntarily contact support through this website, we receive the information you submit, such as your email address, app version, device model, topic, and message. Do not include documents, document text, passwords, financial information, health information, or other sensitive content in a support request. This website is hosted by Cloudflare Pages, and support form submissions are processed by Formspree. Those providers may process standard hosting, security, and submission information under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy and Formspree Privacy Policy.

4. Device permissions

Ink Aloud asks for camera access only when you choose to scan pages. Captured pages are processed and stored locally. You can change camera access at any time in iOS Settings. File access occurs through Apple’s document picker, share sheet, or files you explicitly select; Ink Aloud does not request unrestricted access to your entire file library.

5. Sharing, selling, and disclosure

We do not sell personal information, share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, serve ads, or use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs. Ink Aloud does not share your documents with us.

Information leaves the app only through actions you initiate or platform services needed for a requested feature, including:

We may disclose support information if reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect users, investigate fraud or security issues, or defend legal rights. We do not disclose your on-device library because we do not receive it.

6. Retention and deletion

You control the content stored in Ink Aloud. You can delete individual documents and folders in the app, clear generated audio from Settings, or uninstall the app to remove its local app container. Files or backups you exported remain wherever you chose to save them. Trial and entitlement records stored in the iOS Keychain may remain after an uninstall so the app can preserve access status.

Local MetricKit diagnostics are rotated so only a limited recent set is retained. Formspree submission history is retained according to the active Formspree plan, currently up to 30 days. Support correspondence may be retained only as reasonably necessary to answer the request, prevent abuse, and maintain support records, normally no longer than 12 months unless a longer period is required for legal or security reasons. You may ask us to delete a support request using the support form.

7. Your privacy choices

Because Ink Aloud does not require an account and we do not receive your on-device library, we cannot remotely view, retrieve, correct, or delete that local content.

8. Children’s privacy

Ink Aloud is a general-audience document-reading utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child submitted personal information through support, contact us so we can delete it.

9. Security

Ink Aloud minimizes privacy risk by keeping core processing on-device, requesting limited permissions, and avoiding advertising and analytics services. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Protect your device with a passcode, keep iOS updated, and use care when exporting documents or backups to other services.

10. International processing

Ink Aloud’s core app data stays on your device. If you submit a support request, the request may be processed in the United States or another location where Cloudflare, Formspree, or our support operations process data. By submitting a request, you understand that the information will be processed where support and hosting services are provided.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Ink Aloud’s features, data practices, or legal obligations change. We will publish the revised policy here and update the effective date. Material changes will also be communicated in the app or through the App Store when appropriate.

12. Contact

Questions, privacy requests, and support requests can be submitted through the Ink Aloud Support form. Please identify a privacy request in the topic field.
